Mar 30 Terence Tao: Incredible device for picking up, or putting down, goo (without deforming it). My jaw dropped.
Mar 30 Javier rubio: If I was a chef, I would like to have one of those things.
Mar 30 Allen Knutson: The place I got it from claimed that it was planned for the food industry (which was about all they said).
Mar 30 Willie Wong: Wow. A larger version would also make life (slightly) simpler when making pizzas or pies.
Mar 30 Bela Cat: Hmmm. My master could use this to clean up after I throw up.
Mar 30 Sun Andy: might be useful for painters.
Mar 30 Nizameddin Ordulu: fake
Mar 30 Allen Knutson: I wondered if it was fake. I kind of hope so, because of the wonderment that someone would have such a crazy idea. But given the videos they have of its use in food production, I rather doubt it.
Apr 2 MichaĆ Mandrysz: Perfect for cleaning the kitchen, but how would it store the garbage? The biggest problem is that it needs a flat, clean surface to store the trash.
Apr 2 tianhui mai: it needs a super smooth surface, which might not be practical for most kitchen, doesn't it?
Apr 4 Frank Morgan: My friends think that putting the goo back down is just running the video backwards.
Apr 4 Terence Tao: 0:47 to 1:00 is clearly forwards in time, so it seems difficult to explain 0:40-0:43 as a time reversal of 0:34-0.37.
Apr 4 Allen Knutson: From 1:30-2:00 the position of the device during pickup is definitely not the same as during putdown. I suppose they could crop the same footage differently to achieve that, but I don't believe they did.
Apr 4 Debesh Bhatta: Assuming its real what is the most likely phenomenon it is exploiting ?
7:23 am siddharth anand: superb !!
11:57 am Benoit Jubin: Impressive! The food actually never slides on any surface: the moving rigid part is covered by a tissue whose upper extremity is fixed to the core of the device. The "antiadhesive" property of the tissue might be achieved by a hyrdophile/lipophobe cover ?
12:41 pm Debesh Bhatta: It can't be only that somehow the presence of the edge of the arm affects the adhesion between the original surface and the goo. It is as if in presence of the edge the goo behaves almost as a solid in maintaining its shape and leaving the underlying surface.
